Fire Salamander

is a robust amphibian with short limbs, quite long and strong tail and small head with round mouth and bulging eyes. It usually has black-coloured body with yellow spots or stripes. Adult salamanders reach a maximum size of approximately 20 cm. By day, salamander hides from direct sunlight and goes hunting at night. Its diet mostly consists of earthworms, small insects, worms etc. that it kills using a very strong poison. It matures at 3–4 years and has a lifespan of up to 20 years. Salamanders are severely endangered species.
