Agile Frog

A widespread species of brown frog, which comes in various shades from yellow-brown to red-brown, it is often marked with brown spots on its back. The Agile Frog also bears a mark on its head in the shape of an upside-down “V”. A defining characteristic of the Agile Frog is its relatively large tympanum, which is located close to the eye. The Agile Frog has the longest hind legs of all domestic frogs. It seeks out relatively dry and warm habitats, often a considerable distance from water. It lives in open deciduous forests, underbrush, meadows, and stony steppe-type biotopes. It hibernates not only in underground hiding places, but also in mud on the bottom of breeding reservoirs. It lives up to ten years.
