Water Rail
this type of rail grows up to 28 cm and weighs up to 200 g. Its body is brown with black spots, sides of the head and breast are blue-grey. In the CZ it nests across the whole area in lower locations and the whole population is estimated at 600-1,200 pairs. It nests in the shallows covered in reed and in sedge marshes. It lives well hidden, it is able to climb very well and primarily feeds on invertebrate, amphibians and small fish.
