Greater Mouse-Eared Bat

is one of the most plentiful CZ bats. Without the tail, its body is 6.5 – 8 cm long and wingspan reaches 35 – 40 cm. From the upper side it is predominantly grey-brown and from the bottom it is grey-white. Its hair is short. In the wild, great mouse-eared bat lives in caves, but it is also able to adapt to coexistence with human. During the night time it hunts for bigger insects it localises using ultrasound or with its perfect hearing. Its life span can reach up to 28 years. It is a severely endangered species.
