Kamenec

At first glance, Kamenec is an inconspicuous piece of land, just off the road near the municipality of the same name. Part of the site consists of rocky slopes with steppe vegetation, which segue into wetlands in the floodplain of the Radnice Brook. This natural site offers ideal conditions for rare inspect species, especially butterflies. Two butterfly species in particular - the Dusky Large Blue and the Scarce Large Blue - were behind the decision to include Kamenec in the Natura 2000 network of protected areas.

Visiting tourists can learn more about Kamenec from the info panels nearby the newly erected resting facility, prepared for weary walkers by the ČSOP in 2008 with the help of the NET4GAS Closer to Nature programme.
