Scarce Large Blue

is present in extensively used damp burnet meadows. Female lays eggs individually on undeveloped heads of nutrient plant (great burnet). Hatched caterpillars move to anthill, where they are considered ant larvae. Caterpillars spend the winter in ant hill and emerge from the chrysalis. The species is very rare in the CZ. Selected locations of scarce large blue are protected by the European Network of Protected Areas Natura 2000.
