European Beaver
The beaver is an aquatic rodent. It has a plump body with a conspicuous flat tail that does multi-duty as a paddle, a rudder, or a means of signaling when swimming. Its fur is a shiny brown with bursts of yellow; the animal’s coat is perfectly waterproof thanks to greasy excretions from its anal glands. The tail and feet are black, while the hind feet are enhanced with strong webbing. Beavers are partial to smaller rivers, lakes, or pools of water where they can build their lodge.
