Střelenská Meadow

The 1.5 ha Střelenská Meadow lies within the village borders of Střelná and is one of the most valuable wet meadows in the foothills of the Ore Mountains. Its previous owners managed this pearl with great care, which is why it has to this day the proper level of humidity that is needed by rare plant communities.

Orchids, for instance, thrive on the Střelenská Meadow - such as the Broad-Leaved Marsh Orchid. Visitors marvel at the tiny fern known as Adder's Tongue and at the Marsh Arrowgrass. These fine floristic specimens are an attraction for botanists, locals, and tourists alike.

In 2009, the ČSOP bought the site in the course of its campaign "Room for Nature" and transformed it into a "private reserve". Under the NET4GAS Closer to Nature programme, two information panels and a resting area were installed in 2011, and the meadow was fenced in to protect the rare plants that grow here.
