Bohemian Gentian

A biannual plant with a stem that grows up to 10 – 15 cm, in the first year, it only produces a sterile rosette near the ground. Only in the second year does an erect stem emerge from the rosette. The perianth is divided into five bluish-violet petals. The fruit is a seed capsule. An extremely rare plant, it grows on close-cropped meadows, pastures, and open forest edges, in elevations that range from hilly to montane.
