Scarce Swallowtail

One of our large diurnal butterflies, its forewing is 30 – 45 mm long. Only in the warmest regions of the Czech Republic does it occur in appreciable numbers. The Swallowtail spends the winter in its chrysalis state. The adult feeds on nectar from the flowers of common steppe plants, shrubs and trees.
