The yellow-spotted whiteface belongs to skimmers. In the Czech Republic, it most frequently lives by standing waters – mostly in peat bogs, fens, and forest as well as meadow pools. Its larvae as well as adult specimens feed on smaller water insect. The larvae take about two years to develop; the adult specimens can be seen from mid-May to end July.
