Great Egret

A large, white wading bird, their long legs are dark in colour, while their long pointed beak is pale yellow. The elongated crest feathers play an important role in courtship rituals. The egret is at home in marshlands, large shallow lakes, fish ponds and natural streams with dense reed stands. It feeds primarily on fish, but occasionally supplements its diet with amphibians, reptiles or large water insects.
