Common Quail

this small gallinaceous bird from the Phasianidae family has a very inconspicuous colour. It has a light-brown body with dark-brown spots and whitish streaks on the sides. The females have a black stripe in the middle of the neck. It nests in the open agricultural landscape with pastures. In the Czech Republic it primarily nests in lower locations - in the open agricultural landscape, but also occurs in the area of Giant Mountains and Hrubý Jeseník.
