Harlequin Blueflag

A perennial with curved ensiform to slightly sickle-shaped leaves, its flowers are yellow, with violet or reddish-brown mottled petals. The fruit is a capsule. It grows on steppes, sunny slopes, field borders, and on glades within stands of oak, on sandy soils from the lowlands to hilly ground. It flowers from May to June.
