Dark-red Helleborine

A herbaceous perennial plant with a straight, non-branching stem. An inflorescence of 10 to 30 flowers whose petals are mostly ruby red. Grows in sunny forests, on shrubby hillsides, and in calcite soil, at altitudes ranging from the lowlands to the mountains. The flowering season is from May through August. In the Czech Republic, it grows primarily in calcite soil in South and Southwest Bohemia.
