Centaurea stenolepis

is the rarest subspecies of Centaurea phrygia in the Czech Republic. Their mericarps have pappus about six times shorter than the plants themselves are. Besides in the White Carpathians where Centaurea stenolepis can be found on forest borders and meadows, it has almost disappeared in our country.
