Viennese Squill

is a perennial herb 5 to 20 cm tall. It grows in bottomland forests, in water meadows of rivers and brooks and other damp locations. Leaves are only in a ground rose, most often two out of one bulb. Usually only one red coloured stalk sprouts from a single bulb. The front side of blossoms is blue with white spot on the base, the back side is greenish to whitish-blue. It blooms from March until April. It is protected by the law within the severely endangered category.
