Osprey

With a body length of 55 cm, it has a wingspan of up to 165 cm. Its underparts are white, while its head is light in colour, with distinctive highwayman's masks over the eyes. Its long, narrow wings are noticeably bent in flight. The bird lives predominantly in coastal regions and on the shores of inland bodies of water, where prey is in sufficient supply. The Osprey can be found on all continents with the exception of Antarctica. The Osprey feeds almost exclusively on fish, which it hunts at the water’s surface. European Osprey specimens spend the winter in Africa.
