Common Snipe

belongs among migratory birds, protected in the CZ by the law as a severely endangered species. Its upper parts and head are black-brown with 2 - 4 lengthwise stripes. Its typical sound display is bleating sound produced during shallow dives by the male tails feathers vibration. Its main diet components are worms, insects and spiders. It nests once a year in April to July. The female lays four pear-shaped, olive-green and dark-brown spotted eggs.
