Zahrady

Near Český Brod, in a part of town known as Zahrady ("Gardens"), one finds an interesting network of fish ponds - and a non-traditional educational trail that guides visiting tourists through the history of the site and its beautiful nature. The info panels along the trail show birds, fish, and plant seeds as drawn by the students of local schools.

The educational trail introduces visitors not only to the history of the site and the way in which plants or aquatic birds "migrate", but also to some of the more frightful inhabitants of the pond system. Hláska Citadel - the remnant of a Medieval stronghold that once stood here - towers over the trail.

The educational trail Zahrady was carried out in 2008 under the NET4GAS Closer to Nature project by the local ČSOP chapter Koniklec in cooperation with the City of Český Brod, the ČSOP chapter Český Brod, the Czech Fishing Union - the Prague Municipal Union, the Pošembeří Region, the Třeboň Secondary Technical School, the local Skaut Center and the St. Simeon Association.
